A farewell to Jonathan Randall Grant

It is with very mixed feelings that Episcopal Charities says farewell to a valued employee, co-worker, and friend. Jonathan Randall Grant has served as Communications Manager at Episcopal Charities for 7 years.

Matt Berryman, Jonathan’s colleague and Executive Director of Episcopal Charities, said:

“Jonathan Grant’s years with Episcopal Charities have been an extraordinary blessing. When he began his time with us, our communications capacity was limited. Under his leadership, Episcopal Charities developed a strong, cohesive communications presence, including robust social media platforms, a new website, consistent monthly email communications, and print publications of exceptional quality. All of this work was marked by a beauty of presentation rooted in Jonathan’s deep awareness of the Episcopal and Anglican aesthetic and theological tradition, ensuring that our communications were not only effective but faithful to who we are. He also ensured that our fundraising events were thoughtfully designed and executed, making them both memorable and successful. Today, our audiences and stakeholders are met with consistent, high-quality messaging that simply did not exist when Jonathan arrived. I am deeply grateful for his ministry with us and send him every blessing as he pursues his call abroad.”

In February, Grant will resume his role as visiting artist at the American Church in Paris until 2030, a post he previously held before moving to Chicago. He will continue painting for churches and exploring the intersection of faith and aesthetics.

“I feel so grateful for my time with EC. Grateful for the patience and mentorship of Matthew Berryman. And Grateful to see at close range the beautiful work being done in this diocese. It is inspiring and humbling and has left a profound mark on my life. It is easy to see the work of Episcopal Charities simply as impacting the beneficiaries of our partner organizations- those receiving meals, shelter, and care. But the work of Episcopal Charities- of all of you- has changed my life as well. My heart has been reformed by our sojourn together.”
