Call for Submissions
2021 Lenten Reader
Who- Anyone is welcome to submit work to the 2021 Lenten Reader! Our primary audience is Episcopalians in the Diocese of Chicago, but we welcome all perspectives and traditions to join us for this project.
Theme- "In the Ages to Come"
This year's theme comes from the Lenten lectionary (daily readings from the Bible) from Ephesians 2:7. Together we will be exploring ideas of hope, futuring, community, lament, renewal, etc., through this phrase's lens. What does this idea conjure for you? We invite you to reflect on the readings (which we will also include in the Lenten Reader) and create work that asks us to ponder this concept together.
Timeline- We will accept submissions until January 20th. At that time, they will be reviewed by our editorial board. You will receive an acceptance/denial e-mail by February 10th.
Cost- Submitting work for the Lenten Reader is free! You are also invited to submit more than one item. If you want to donate your submission, please indicate this on your invoice, and you will be given a tax document.
Use- This project is a collaboration! When you submit work to Episcopal Charities, you will be asked to sign a waiver that acknowledges your invoice or donation and lets us share your work in printed form and on our website and social media platforms. Your work will not be shared with third parties or for anything else than in connection with the Lenten Reader and the work of Episcopal Charities. Whenever your content is shared or published, you will be credited as its creator. When shared on social media, you will be tagged and mentioned.
How- Submissions can be e-mailed to info@episcopalcharities.org
They should include an invoice for the work along with your e-mail address and a physical mailing address. Our Editorial Board will be reviewing submissions based on our budget and connection to the theme and mission of Episcopal Charities.

About Episcopal Charities- Episcopal Charities exists to fund grassroots solutions for the many social needs across Northern Illinois and support the healing and transformation of our communities. This dynamic of response and change forms the core and mission of Episcopal Charities.
Episcopal Charities strengthens and supports its partner agencies, congregational outreach programs, and other nonprofits that offer hope to all people in the region to fulfill this mission.
Episcopal Charities stands with its partner agencies through annual financial grants and a capacity building program that helps them increase their fundraising, raise visibility for their work in Northern Illinois, and build more effective governing boards.
We look forward to seeing what inspiration strikes!
